Best of 2010: Anime

Because why not? Qualifying shows are based on this list because it didn’t mean I had to think of what qualified myself. And ADTRW uses the same list so yeah.

Now presenting Kari’s Best of 2010 list for all anime related things without pictures because she’s lazy but there’s some description to fill space! PS: Don’t bitch cause there’s only like, six shows mentioned.

Best Opening Song

絆-kizunairo-色 by Lia (Fortune Arterial) – This was a tough choice between it and the runner up, but Lia’s always been one of my favorite singers, and hearing her do a more upbeat song compared to Tori no Uta or even My Soul, Your Beats was awesome.
Runner up: MOON SIGNAL by Sphere (Otome Youkai Zakuro)

Best Ending Song

Junjou Masquerade by Aki Toyosaki, Yui Horie and Yuuki Kaji (Otome Youkai Zakuro) – This series actually has three ending songs, and this is the best of the three.
Runner up: Shunkan Sentimental by SCANDAL (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

Best Insert Song

Crow Song by Girls Dead Monster (Angel Beats) – The band sequences in Angel Beats were some of the best parts, and marina is a great singer. Fuck Yui’s songs, they’re nowhere near as good.
Runner up: Alchemy by Girls Dead Monster (Angel Beats)

Best Opening Sequence

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru – Sequence referring to the animation combined with the song. This is what made me watch this show.
Runner up: Otome Youkai Zakuro

Best Ending Sequence

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru – And this is what made me stick with Soremachi. MAIDS SANJOU!
Runner up: Angel Beats

Best Animation

Fortune Arterial – The only thing this show was GOOD at.
Runner up: Otome Youkai Zakuro

Best Plot

Tatakau Shisho ~The Book of Bantorra~ – Full of twists, good character development, and plot elements that look separate but typically get brought together, this is a series I won’t mind rewatching a lot to discover more.
Runner up: Otome Youkai Zakuro

Best Female Character

Hamyuts Meseta (Tatakau Shisho) – A pair of walking boobs who is actually useful past fanservice. She’s got an amazing, yet screwed up, personality, and is a very 3D character (again, looking past the tits). Also, Paku Romi for a voice actor!
Runner up: Tenshi/Kanade Tachibana (Angel Beats)

Best Male Character

Hideki Hinata (Angel Beats) – More like BRONATA.
Runner up: Mattalast Balory (Tatakau Shisho)

Best Overall Series

Tatakau Shisho ~The Book of Bantorra~ – No surprise if you’ve heard me talk about it. This series shows that every once in a while, Japan can still put out something not moe, not high school, not magical girl, not sugary sweet, and not creepy that’s amazingly good.
Runner up: Otome Youkai Zakuro

Best Currently Airing Series

Star Driver – Monochrome would’ve won Best Insert Song if the series qualified, and it might’ve gotten into Best Female Character with Wako or whatever Greenslut’s real name is. The battles are getting a bit stale, and hopefully they pick up again, but it’s looking good so far for the first mecha series I’ve watched in a while.
